Batman Begins (2005) is an American Superhero film based on the comic book character created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger

Although it is the fifth live-action Batman movie since 1989, the movie is a neither a prequel nor a sequel to the previous Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher movies, but rather a re-start of the movie franchise.

The film was inspired by the graphic novels Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: The Man Who Falls, and Batman: Year One, in addition to comics from the 1970s era. It more closely follows the darker psychological theme of the Batman comics and graphic novels. It was a big financial and critical success.

Batman is the story of an ambitious, fabulously rich, larger-than-life protagonist, a man living in the shadow of childhood trauma, struggling to define himself and what he stands for and ultimately standing outside ordinary human society. Batman is a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.
