The movie was the tenth-highest grossing film of 2005, and broke the record for best opening weekend for a romantic-comedy film. The two male leads, Smith and James, are best known for starring in sitcoms that were named for royalty. Smith starred on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran from 1990 to 1996, and James currently stars as Doug Heffernan on The King of Queens. Eva Mendes' character was originally offered to Indian actress and supermodel Aishwarya Rai, but the latter could not take the role due to scheduling problems.
Hitch (Will Smith) is a kind of a legend when it comes to dating and romance though he himself stays from it because of a heart break that he went through a long time back. His present client is clumsy Albert(Kevin James) who is head over heels in love with the beautiful socialite Allegra. Allegra's every move is followed by Sara(Eva Mendes), a reporter for a Newyork tabloid. Hitch finds himself falling for Sara and for the very first time realizes that his smooth approach doesn't work on her. Where Albert and Allegra's relationship continues to progress, Hitch finds that none of his tried and tested methods are working on himself, despite being a master of the art. A hilarious movie filled with slapstick comedy from beginning to end. |
