Silent Hill tells the story of Rose and Christopher Da Silva who have adopted a young girl named Sharon de Silva. She is plagued with repeated, unrecallable nightmares and is brought to the town of Silent Hill by her mother, Rose, in an attempt to ascertain the cause of the problem.

Going against her husband's wishes, Rose attempts to take Sharon to West Virginia to find the town of Silent Hill, which Sharon constantly talks about in her sleep. They arrive in the middle of the night to find the town closed off. Apparently a massive fire happened there thirty years ago. However, when they show up in town,an automobile accident causes the mother and child to be separated, Rose must set out to find her daughter. Instead of finding her adoptive daughter, she runs into a series of weird happenings. Rose knows it was a bad idea to come there, but now her daughter is missing, and she has to find her.

A really scary movie and the elements of horror are brilliantly done.

Silent Hill uses little computer-generated imagery, with the most notable exceptions being the fog that drenches the town, the otherworld transitions, and the insects that surround the Red Pyramid. Some of the creatures have been touched-up with CGI in post-production, but, for the most part, what is seen on film existed physically.
